But during the slave era in America, White men told slaves that they were being treated, but really they were given a disease as test subjects…

AIDS did not exist during the slave era. You may be thinking of the Tuskegee experiment. It started during the 1930′s. Doctors didn’t actually give anyone a disease. When African-American men sought treatment for syphilis, the doctors said they were treating them, but instead did nothing. They wanted to see what happened with untreated syphilis. So not only did the African-American men get sick and die, some passed it on to their wives, who in turn passed it to their children during birth. Since both HIV and syphilis are sexually transmitted, that might be why you were thinking the story was about AIDS.
The story has been tossed around so much it has about a thousand different versions which aren’t true. The truth is horrible enough, IMHO. Unfortunately, it’s made African-Americans distrust medicine in general, which can suck if you’re a black kid who needs a bone marrow transplant. It’s hard to find someone of a similar background. 50 Cent registered the other day after he heard about a young girl who starred in “The Lion King” who has leukemia and can’t find anyone.

There is a blood test for STDs. I stick a needle in your vein and draw off a small amount of blood and the put a bandaid on the spot. That’s it. IF it turns out you have a treatable STD, it’s treated with antibiotics. If you have one that isn’t treatable, you’ll be so advised – and if you continue to screw around and spread that disease, you can be charged with attempted murder.
If that thought bothers you, I suggest you keep your pecker in your own pants and not hers…because of one of your partners develops an STD, she will be required to report all her sexual contacts, including you – and you will be compelled to come to the clinic for testing and for treatment. Refuse, and you will be arrested for violating public health law.
Jeez, do you suppose those of us who work in public health take the issue seriously? You’re right;we do. Deadly serious!

i’ve had an hiv test done last year, the result is negative/non-reactive. i’m paranoid since i’m sexually active again. i want to the test again. if i’ll go to the doctor where i did the test before, will i only do the hiv test? i want to check all possible test which is connected with sex. do i need to do another test for all sexually transmitted diseases? thanks.
